The Houston Dynamo re-signed forward Darwin Quintero through 2022 with an option for 2023.

Targeted allocation money was used for the deal announced Tuesday.

Quintero, 34, has tallied 10 goals and 12 assists in 42 games (29 starts) since joining Houston in a November 2019 trade with Minnesota United FC.

"Darwin is a game changer, he brings an offensive quality that can win games," Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad said in a news release. "Darwin expressed his desire to remain in Houston and that is a tribute to the city, the fans and the strong support staff at the club. We are excited to see his continued contributions."

Quintero led the Dynamo with 42 chances created last season.

"I am excited to return to Houston and tackle a big year for the team in 2022," he said. "Our goals are very clear and I want to play a role in helping the team get to that next level."

The Colombia native registered 21 goals and 20 assists in 57 matches (53 starts) for Minnesota United across the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
