Chicago Fire defender Wyatt Omsberg signed a contract through the 2022 season on Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the Fire, who hold club options on Omsberg for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The news on Omsberg comes one day after the team re-signed defender Jonathan Bornstein to a one-year contract.

"Wyatt is a consistent and hard-working defender with a team-first mentality," said Georg Heitz, the Fire's sporting director. "His re-addition to the roster provides us with depth at the center back position as we continue to prepare for a very important 2022 season."

Omsberg, 26, has recorded one assist in 30 career matches (15 starts) with Minnesota United (2018-19) and the Fire. Chicago acquired Omsberg from Minnesota on Feb. 11, 2020.
