The Falcons have reportedly added wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to their roster.

With the addition of Treadwell, Atlanta's receiving corps would now consist of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Christian Blake, Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Gray.

Treadwell, 24, was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The former Ole Miss standout didn't quite emerge as the No. 1 receiving threat he was perceived to be coming out of college.

The Vikings declined to pick up Treadwell's fifth-year option in May of 2019 and he was not picked up by any team until he re-signed with Minnesota in September.

Treadwell provides the Falcons more depth and experience at the receiver position. Having played in 53 games, Treadwell can be plugged in all over the field.

Jones, Ridley and Gage will get majority of reps with the first-team as they combined for 211 catches, 2,726 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2019.

Where Treadwell will be utilized most is at the No. 4 or 5 receiver spots unless he beats Gage out during training camp. In Atlanta's offense, that player usually sees significant game action.

When the Falcons traded Mohamed Sanu to the New England Patriots and Ridley was placed on injured reserve last season, Blake and Zaccheaus were used often.

Treadwell certainly provides veteran depth. Rather than having to make a mid-season signing or rely on a player with little experience, the Falcons should have a reliable option in Treadwell.

The 6-foot-2, 221-pound receiver is another big, physical receiving option for quarterback Matt Ryan.
